Newsletter 03/2010

29 January 2010

Dear Parents

“The future depends on what we do

in the present.”

                                       Mahatma Gandhi

Well, what a week it has been with all the rain we have had.  It has really caused havoc with our athletics meetings.

STAFFING

We must sadly bid farewell to our resident psychologist Lynn Holmes, who has worked with many of our children for the past three years.  Lynn has decided to further her studies and begins her doctorate this year.  We would like to take this opportunity to thank Lynn for all she has done for us over the last three years and wish her everything of the best for the future.

We will be welcoming Iona Kotze (Psychologist) and Gillian van der Merwe (Learning Support Specialist) in her place and they will be commencing their duties in February.  We wish them a long and happy stay with us.

POTHOLES – JASMINE STREET

After three months of phoning everyone from the road agency, to the Ekurhuleni Town Council, to our local councillor, Maureen Ansett, it would appear that the powers that be are at last doing something about the enormous and dangerous potholes on the corner of Jasmine Street.  We received a letter from the Ekurhuleni Town Council yesterday (28 January), stating that they were going to be closing this section of Jasmine Street for repair.  I do believe that we will all live with the inconvenience of the road closure in order that they rectify this dangerous situation.
