LEVEL 1:

INFRINGEMENT:

Ä  Class disturbance

Ä  Homework not done / homework not at school

Ä  Break disturbance

Ä  Stationery incomplete or left at home

Ä  Incorrect uniform

Ä  Incorrect P.E. uniform

Ä  Incorrect hair cut or colour or dreadlocks

Ä  Minor damage to property (including own property)

Ä  Late arrival at school

Ä  Late arrival at class

Ä  Late arrival at assembly

Ä  Copying of work

Ä  Disrespect towards Learner Reps

Ä  Chewing gum or eating in class

Ä  Homework diary not at school

Ä  Tests / diary not signed

Ä  Circular return slips not returned to school

Ä  Absent without a letter

Ä  Books not covered or deliberately damaged

Ä  Books / projects left at home

Ä  Leaving class without permission

Ä  Transgression of school rules

DISCIPLINE MEASURE FOR CLASS DISTURBANCE, HOMEWORK NOT DONE AND CHEWING GUM/ EATING IN CLASS and LATE ARRIVAL FOR CLASS

1 - 2   Warning by teacher

3  Lose 5 roses

These steps will be repeated continuously, without a build up of above misdemeanours.

After these 3 steps have been repeated 4 times (homework not done 12 times) parents will be interviewed by teacher.

DISCIPLINE MEASURE FOR ALL OTHER LEVEL 1 OFFENCES:

1 - 4:   Warning by teacher

5:   Lose 5 roses

6 - 8:   Warning by teacher

9:     Lose 10 roses

10 - 11:  Warning by teacher

12:   Teacher interviews parents. Lose 10 roses

13 - 14:  Warning by teacher

15:   Deputy interviews parents. Lose 15 roses

16 - 17:  Warning by teacher

18:  Exclusion from class x 1 day. Lose 20 roses and receive a yellow slip.

19:  Warning by teacher

20: Deputy interviews parents.  Exclusion from class x 2 days. Lose 25 roses and receive an orange slip.

LEVEL 2:

INFRINGEMENT:

Ä  Foul language

Ä  Fighting / aggression

Ä  Name calling

Ä  Lying

Ä  Subject truancy

Ä  Victimisation including bullying and teasing

Ä  Cheeking or back-chatting teacher

Ä  Leaving school without permission

Ä  Verbal threats

Ä  Deliberate minor injuries to fellow learners

Ä  Transgression of other school rules

DISCIPLINE MEASURE:

1 : Warning by teacher

2:  Lose 5 roses

3:  Lose 10 roses and receive a yellow slip.

4:  Teacher interviews parents. Lose 15 roses and receive an orange slip.

5:  Deputy interviews parents. Lose 20 roses and receive a red slip exclusion from School tours and outings.

6 - 8: Deputy interviews parents. Exclusion from class x 1 day. Lose 25 roses.

9:    Deputy interviews parents.  Exclusion from class x 2 days. Lose 30 roses.

10:  SGB Disciplinary hearing.

LEVEL 3:

INFRINGEMENT:

Ä  Truancy

Ä  Vandalism

Ä  Copying of exams

Ä  Disrespect toward teacher

Ä  Inappropriate sexual remarks

Ä  Cell phones

Ä  Playing dangerous games

Ä  Deliberate major injuries to fellow learners

Ä  Bringing dangerous weapons to school

Ä  Hate speech

Ä  Transgression of other school rules

DISCIPLINE MEASURE:

1:  Deputy contacts parents.  Following occurs:

2:  Deputy interviews parents.  Exclusion from class x 2 days. All privileges removed x 1 term. Lose 30 roses + red slip.

3:  Refer to SGB and / or GDE.  Punishment decided at disciplinary hearing.

LEVEL 4:

INFRINGEMENT:

Ä  Theft

Ä  Aggression towards teacher

Ä  Inappropriate sexual behavior

Ä  Downloading, distributing or showing any form of pornography

Ä  Liquor on school premises

Ä  Smoking

Ä  Drugs

Ä  Use of dangerous weapons

Ä  Transgression of other school rules

DISCIPLINE MEASURE:

1:   Refer to SGB and /or GDE.  Disciplinary hearing with learner and parents  present.  Punishment decided at disciplinary hearing. Exclusion from all school tours and outings.
